Wood was working during the lock-down on a series of small wire & found-object sculptures.... Mike Nelson is photographing them under construction.
Wood's found object sculpture have been collected for many years in both the United States and Europe. Her work in assemblage and other mediums are in private and corporate collections.
A tale she likes to tell is about two of her favorite collectors....just before Christmas, one of the friends stopped into the studio and swore Fay to secrecy- the other friend had seen a piece of mixed media sculpture in a recent exhibition and admired it, so the first friend bought it as a holiday surprise. Two days later, the other half of the couple dropped into the studio- and he wanted to buy a work as a surprise for his partner....for a moment, Fay thought he wanted the same piece, but to her relief and gratitude, he chose another work and swore her to secrecy again! What a lovely Holiday we all had!
The images can be misleading as to size; many are larger than the image looks- and many are smaller. Chanticleer is a case in point....a prospective buyer was eager to own the work, until she found it was 57" tall unstead of the 14 " or so she thought it was. On the price listing page will be dimensions of each piece and the materials used in the creation.
