The collage portfolio is the most recent of the six portfolios I have created. I made a few small pieces over the years, but it wasn't until I began trying to work in my new studio that I realized I was having difficulty adjusting to the space I had reserved for drawing. It simply wasn't fun any more; something was wrong! At that point, I decided to try something different. I had inherited most of my mother's studio and had also collected lots of miscellaneous "stuff"that I needed to sort - Voila! Collage!
I began working seriously with collage in 2016, and haven't stopped yet. The fun I was missing returned, and the work was exceptional. The collection of materials I had amassed - vintage papers, old engravings, wasp nest paper, watercolors, drawings, blueprints, theatre gels, old paper samples, drafting templates- I began using anything that would enhance the design .
I call the collage I create "narrative" because they seem to tell a story.....the one I was thinking about may not be the same story you can discover in each work you see. This is a wonderful way to look at art! Each time you look , the story gets better......I think this is a major part of why we own works of art. Start a collection and see.....
We love to talk to art lovers and collectors, so after looking at the website, email us for a time you can come to see the art in person...it's the best way to see art!
