     Unlike the "post Studio" techniques of recent artists, Fay Wood uses a meticulous, process oriented approach to her work. With a variety of materials - found  metal, found wood, wire, paper, paint, Pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, glues, beeswax, and vintage collectibles - and a willingness to work by hand,Wood gives a new life to these materials by transforming them into fine art, with a liveliness and a sense of humor.

    Wood has developed six portfolios of work and adds to them frequently......Found Object Sculpture, Hand - Carved Sculpture, Tapestry With Found Objects, Drawing, Oil Painting on Canvas or Glass, and the newest ....Collage.              She was educated at  the Massachusetts College of Art  in Boston, learned about Sculpture from Jasmine Saunders, and carving from Wolfgang Behl. She has continued to teach herself new methods and mediums through the years.

The FOUND OBJECT SCULPTURE Portfolio is in two parts - free-standing & wall-hanging. There are also early wood carvings, some of which form part of the free- standing sculpture.  Most also use vintage wood objects, and the carving is mostly cherry.  There are both wood and metal wall pieces also using vintage  materials. These are smaller in size,  please look the price list to see sizes.                                                                                                     TAPESTRY WITH FOUND OBJECTS  was begun when Wood lost her studio to a hurricane in the 1980's and began the tapestries without a studio.  They are brilliant examples of work using wool, silk, cotton and mixed media  yarns with found materials.                                      Recently, during the lock-down for the Pandemic ,  she has been experimenting with small , lively

 sculpture in colorful wire  as therapy....   losing herself in the creating of the design, then the patterns and color. She calls them her " Pandemic People -
